Resources

Here are some resources and influences on my work:

  • The International End-of-Life Doula Association (INELDA) is a member-based, nonprofit working to meet the non-medical needs of the dying by raising awareness of the roles of end-of-life doulas and providing education to support compassionate deathcare. We are charged with our vision of ensuring that all individuals have accessible, equitable, and compassionate deathcare that holistically affirms one’s humanity and supports end-of-life choices. https://inelda.org/about-doulas/why-choose-inelda/

  • Barbara Karnes, RN, is an internationally respected speaker, educator, author, and thought leader on matters of end of life. She is a renowned authority on the dying process and a leading educator for families, healthcare professionals, and the community at large. https://bkbooks.com/

  • The International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS) provides research, information and education about near-death experiences and related subjects. We also support those who have had near-death experiences and those who care about them. We are the only membership group devoted to this field in the world. https://iands.org/about/

  • The Shared Crossing Project is here to help you discover the end of life as an opportunity to expand your consciousness, deepen your connection, and experience profound grace. Traditional cultural and religious teachings have not prepared us for the end of life. To the contrary, we have been conditioned to believe that aging and death should be both feared and fought; that dying is somehow a failed outcome to be avoided at all costs rather than a natural transition of life.  https://www.sharedcrossing.com/

  • The Sacred Art of Living provides workshops, retreats and professional development resources focused on whole-person caregiving — especially related to the art of living & dying.  We are committed to the tradition of deep ecumenism and the relationship between contemporary sciences and the healing arts. Our vision is inspired by the world’s great wisdom traditions.  https://sacredartofliving.org/

  • The Centre for Sacred Deathcare was founded to help people meet death–and life–in ways that are more healing, and more whole.  We’re committed to creating a death-positive culture where transformative loss is honored as an important part of our soul’s evolutionary journey. https://sacreddeathcare.com/about/sarah/

“Death has the power to heal because it has the power to put life in perspective and to bring forth life’s important priorities.  The art of dying can become the art of living.”
